"The Disappearances" is a 100 minute television movie and the fourth of four pilot episodes that preceded the regular Man from Atlantis television series that aired on NBC from 1977 to 1978. The movie first aired on June 20th, 1977 and followed the events from the hour and a half Man from Atlantis: The Killer Spores film. It is followed by episode one of the regular series, "Melt Down", which aired at it's regular time and was only sixty minutes long. Man from Atlantis: The Disappearances was directed by Charles S. Dubin and written by Jerry Sohl and Luther Murdoch. It stars Patrick Duffy as amphibian hero Mark Harris with Belinda Montgomery as Foundation for Oceanic Research scientist Doctor Elizabeth Merrill. Also starring in the film is Alan Fudge as Foundation administrator C.W. Crawford as well as Kenneth Tigar making his final appearance as Doctor Miller Simon, Darleen Carr as Doctor Mary Smith, Ivor Francis as Doctor Medlow, Dennis Redfield as Dick Redstone and Pamela Peters Solow as Jane Smith.

  • This episode features the first television appearance of actor Ernie Hudson. Hudson will have a long and prosperous career in both film and television, but is probably best known for his role as Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
