"The Death Scouts" is a television movie and the second of four pilot episodes that preceded the regular Man from Atlantis television series that aired on NBC from 1977 to 1978. The movie first aired on May 7, 1977 and followed the events from the hour and a half Man from Atlantis film. It is followed by Man from Atlantis: The Killer Spores, which also premiered in 1977. The telemovie was directed by Marc Daniels and written by Robert Lewin. It stars Patrick Duffy as amphibian hero Mark Harris with Belinda Montgomery as Foundation for Oceanic Research scientist Doctor Elizabeth Merrill. Also starring in the film is Alan Fudge, making his series debut as C.W. Crawford, as well as Kenneth Tigar debuting his role as Doctor Miller Simon, Tiffany Bolling as Lioa, Burr DeBenning as Xos, Anette Courset as Ginny Mendoza, Alan Mandell as Grant Stockwood, Vince Deadrick, Sr. as Herb Wayland and Hank Stohl as Wes.
