The Man-Thing is an American ongoing comic book series of the horror genre. It was published by Marvel Comics an ran for twenty-two issues from January 1974 to October 1975. The series spotlighted the character of the Man-Thing, who was a silent swamp monster with a burning touch and a dangling proboscis for a nose. All twenty-two issues were written by Steve Gerber. The first artist on the series was Val Mayerik, who penciled issues #1-4. He was succeeded by Mike Ploog, who took over for issues #5-11, who was then followed up by John Buscema, and Alfredo Alcala. Jim Mooney was the primary artist on issues #17-22.
