Biography[]
Man-Oo was an adult male mountain gorilla who lived in the jungles of Africa near the Batabi Province. Man-Oo considered himself a protector of the region and heralded his dominance by pounding on his chest and roaring for all to here. He defended smaller breeds of animal who would become easy prey for faster, more powerful predators.
Numa the lion, having abandoned his native lands because of drought, wandered into Man-Oo's domain seeking prey. He spied an antelope named Tondo, who was protecting his mate and fawn. Before Numa could attack, Man-Oo leaped from the trees and pounced upon him. Numa had the advantage over Man-Oo at first, but the gorilla fought back and caught Numa from behind, gripping the lion so tightly that he snapped its back.
Exhausted from the fight, Man-Oo slumped down against a tree. A snake emerged, posing to strike the slumbering prey. Tondo leaped out from the brush and used his antlers to scoop up the snake and cast it away. Man-Oo awakened and was grateful to Tondo and then went off to swing through the trees. [1]
