Mama Sawyer is a fictional minor character featured in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series. She appeared briefly in the original 1974 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Virtually nothing is known about this woman. It is possible that she may have had the same prediliction towards cannibalism that the other members of the family seemed to share. It is also unclear if this woman was the wife or daughter of Grandpa Sawyer. It is reasonable to assume that shed was the mother of Drayton Sawyer, Nubbins Sawyer, Bubba Sawyer and Chop-Top Sawyer. Her body was usually positioned in a chair next to Grandpa Sawyer's rocking chair.
The skeletal remains of her corpse remained inside the Sawyer family farmhouse long after her demise. In August, 1973, Sally Hardesty took note of the corpse's presence while attempting to escape from the house.
