The Malmooth are a fictional alien race featured in the Doctor Who multimedia franchise. They appeared in the 2005 Doctor Who revival series. They were introduced in the eleventh episode from series three, "Utopia".
The Malmooth were a sentient insectoid race native to the planet Malcassairo. They lived in hive communities, which possibly functioned as city-states across the planet's barren, sunless landscape. By the year 100 Trillion, the Malmooth were all but instinct. The last surviving member of this race was Chantho, who worked as an assistant to the amnesiac Professor Yana. After Yana regained his memories and realized that he was in fact a renegade Time Lord known as The Master, he shot and killed Chantho, thus bringing the Malmooth race to complete extinction.
