Malignant is an American feature film of the psychological thriller genre, which also contains some elements of the paranormal. It was directed by James Wan with a script written by Akela Cooper, based on a story treatment by Wan, Cooper, and Ingrid Bisu. It was produced by Boom! Studios, Atomic Monster, and Starlight Culture Entertainment, and distributed through New Line Cinema. It premiered in France on September 1st, 2021. It was released theatrically in the United States on September 10th, 2021. The film was also simulcast on HBO MAX for the first month of its release. The film stars Annabelle Wallis as the female lead Madison Mitchell - a woman who develops a psychic connection to a serial killer known as Gabriel. Co-starring in the film is Maddie Hasson as Madison's sister, Sydney Lake, George Young as police detective Kekoa Shaw, and Michole Briana White as police detective Regina Moss.
Plot[]
Madison Mitchell is a pregnant woman living in Seattle, Washington. She gets into a fight with her abusive husband, who slams her into the wall of their home, causing a serious head injury. Waking up in a hospital, she discovers that she lost the baby during the episode. But that's not all she lost. Some long-haired freako in a dark coat named "Gabriel" broke into her home and killed her husband. As she recovers from this trauma, she discovers that she has some sort of psychic connection to Gabriel and can see the murders that he is committing through his eyes. But is Madison really watching a string of brutal deaths at the hands of a vicious killer, or is Gabriel all in her head?
