Malibu is an American city located in the U.S. state of California. It is a beachfront coastal community in Los Angeles County and is known for its sandy-haired surfers, muscle-bound workout gurus in speedos and scantily clad women with fake breasts. Additionally, many members of the Hollywood jet set call Malibu home. To the north of Malibu are the Santa Monica Mountains and to the east is Topanga Canyon. To the west is Ventura County, which is also bordered by the Pacific Ocean.
In 1957, director Roger Corman filmed some of the island scenes from his creature feature Attack of the Crab Monsters in Malibu. Locations he used include Leo Carillo State Beach.
In 1993, a series of wildfires swept through the Southern California area, destroying many homes and claiming many lives. One of the casualties of the fires was Duncan Gibbins, the 41-year-old director of the 1991 sci-fi film Eve of Destruction.
