Plot[]
Ali Grayson is a waitress. She is on the telephone with someone discussing her financial woes, while looking down at a stack of past due notices on the table. Her son Denny is in the kitchen busying himself with carving up a pumpkin. Ali enters the kitchen and tells her son that she has to go into work for a few hours. She is unable to get a babysitter, so Denny will be by himself. She asks him to not go out trick or treating. The boy is someone what troubled and stammers out a response. Ali turns and leaves.
That evening is Halloween. A group of trick or treaters approach the house, but the house is dark. Several of them know that this is Denny's house, and they begin singing a made-up song, mocking him for having no friends. One child writes "Stuttering Denny Has No Friends" on the driveway with chalk.
Against his mother's wishes, Denny decides to go out trick or treating. He dons a Frankenstein mask and rides his bicycle to several houses collecting candy. By the time he returns home, his mother is asleep on the couch. Although Denny tries to sneak past her, she awakens and chastises him for going out trick or treating, citing that his candy might have razor blades in it. Ali removes Denny's Frankenstein mask revealing a vicious scar across his mouth - apparently caused from eating the type of candy that Ali is worried about. Denny tells his mom that he was out making new friends. As it turns out, Denny has been switching out the candy to be given to other trick or treaters with chocolates containing razor blades. Some distance away, the bullies that had taken candy from his house begin screaming and spitting up blood. Ali Grayson has a creeping suspicion of what her son has been doing, but issues a slight smile at him regardless.
