A Luggabeast is a fictional alien animal featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. They first appeared in the 2015 feature film Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. [2]
Description[]
Luggabeasts are quadrupeds that can be found on various frontier worlds in the outer rim. They are sometimes seen as biomechanoids, outfitted with plate armor, which provides them protection from the elements and from predators. At least one Luggabeast was known to inhabit the planet Jakku in the region of Niima Outpost some thirty years following the Battle of Yavin.
History[]
A diminutive scavenger known as a Teedo (which may be both his name as well as the name of his species) [3] rode a Luggabeast across the desert flatlands near the area where the Battle of Jakku took place. Teedo had captured an astromech droid named BB-8, which was then rescued by a young woman named Rey. Content with letting the droid go, Teedo continued to ride off across the desert upon the Luggabeast. [4]
Notes[]
- A Luggabeast also appeared in the junior anthology novel Star Wars: Before the Awakening, which was released on the same day that The Force Awakens opened in theaters.
