Lucius Fox is a fictional businessman and a major supporting character featured in comic books published by DC Comics. He is associated with the Batman line of comic book titles and was introduced during DC's Silver Age era in Batman #307 in January, 1979 in a story called "Dark Messenger of Mercy". The character has also appeared in several forms of adapted media. In the "Dark Knight Trilogy" of films, he is played by actor Morgan Freeman, and has appeared in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. On the FOX Network television series Gotham, Lucius Fox was introduced in the twenty-first episode of season one titled, "The Anvil or the Hammer". Played by actor Chris Chalk, he became a regular cast member on the series beginning with the season two episode, "Knock, Knock", which is part of the "Rise of the Villains" storyline.
