The character of Lucifer Morningstar is based on a figure featured in the New Testament of the Holy Bible. The television version of Lucifer is loosely based on the character featured in comic book titles published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. He was the main character featured in the Lucifer ongoing series, which ran from June, 2000 to August, 2006. The Lucifer TV series was developed for television by Tom Kapinos.
