"Collision of the Planets" is the ninth episode of season three of the American science fiction television series Lost in Space and the eighty-fifth episode of the series overall. It was directed by Don Richardson and written by Peter Packer. It first aired on the CBS network on Wednesday, November 8th, 1967.
In this episode, four space hippies, considered social burdens by their homeworld, are sent to a nearby alien planet whose eroding orbit threatens their own world. To become productive citizens, they are tasked with demolishing the planet. They encounter the crew of the Jupiter 2, who are stuck on the planet making repairs, and they warn them that they only have half of one diurnal cycle to fix their ship and leave before they commence destruction of the planet. Meanwhile, Doctor Smith inhales some strange vapors and is imbued with superhuman strength.
