The Lost Boys is a fictional organization and the primary antagonist group of the film series of the same name. They first appeared in the 1987 action/horror movie The Lost Boys by director Joel Schumacher.
Description[]
The so-called "Lost Boys" were a small gang of young vampires who operated out of the city of Santa Carla in Southern California in the late 1980s. The leader of the gang was a man named David. He was (possibly) the progeny of a video store owner named Max, though Max was publicly independent of David and his brood. David's cohorts in the Lost Boys were Paul, Dwayne, and Marko. Also associated with the gang was a half-vampire named Star and a young boy in her charge named Laddie. The Lost Boys were responsible for multiple murders in the Santa Carla area in the summer of 1987, and the boardwalk was littered with dozens of missing persons' posters. When the boys nearly came to blows with a rival gang at the carousel, they were run off by a security guard. After the boardwalk shops closed for the evening, the Boys descended upon the guard as he made his way to his car, killing him.
Star took note of a newcomer to Santa Carla named Michael Emerson and took an interest in him. As such, David likewise took an interest in Michael and the Lost Boys had some sport with him, playing dangerous pranks such as racing motorcycles to the edge of a cliff, or hanging off the bottom of a suspended trestle bridge. David invited Michael back to the Lost Boys' lair, which was the underground ruins of an old hotel that was located on a fault line and sank underground after the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. David used his vampiric powers to mesmerize Michael and then tricked him into drinking his blood out of an old and ornate wine flask.
Although the Lost Boys acted without care of discretion and seemed to treat the city as their own personal playground, they were not without adversaries. Defending Santa Carla from the forces of darkness were two teenage comic book store employees named Edgar and Alan Frog. The Frog brothers befriended Michael's younger brother Sam and gave him an uncomfortable and cursory lesson on the existence of vampires and how to combat them. This became very useful when Sam discovered that Michael was slowly transforming into one of the undead.
After a failed attempted to identify and vanquish the master vampire, Sam and the Frog Brothers tracked the Lost Boys to their lair during the daylight hours. They succeeded in killing one of their number, Marko, but were forced to retreat when Marko's death screams awakened the others.
That night, David, Paul and |Dwayne staged an assault on the Emerson household. Sam manages to kill Dwayne by squirting him with holy water, then impaling him against a stereo system, which caused his body to explode. Paul was killed when Sam's dog Nanook lunged at him, knocking him into a bathtub filled with holy water and garlic.
Michael, having yet to consume human blood, had not fully embraced his vampire heritage, and was able to fight back. He fought against David in their grandfather's workshop and impaled David against a pair of animal antlers that hung on the wall.
With David's death, they had mistakenly believed that the threat was over. However, Max appeared and threatened to kill Sam unless Michael and Sam's mother Lucy agreed to join him. Their grandfather saved the day by driving his work vehicle through the house, which launched a sharpened fence post towards Max. Michael gave Max one final push to make sure that it speared him. With Max's death, Michael, Star and Laddie all returned to normal.

Notes & Trivia[]
- Max refers to the Lost Boys as "David and my boys", implying that while he is the maker of Dwayne, Marko, and Paul, he is not the maker of David. If one takes the continuity of the expanded material into consideration, it is possible that David's maker is the Widow Johnson.
