The Lone Gunmen are a team of fictional computer hackers and recurring character featured on the FOX Network televivison series The X-Files. They also headlined their own short-lived spin-off series in 2002, The Lone Gunmen. They first appeared in the 17th episode of season one titled, "E.B.E." in 1994. They made their final appearance in episode 9x15 of The X-Files, "Jump the Shark", which presented the deaths of the three main members.

- The name "Lone Gunmen" is derived from the accepted notion that assassin Lee Harvey Oswald was working alone without additional support on November 22nd, 1963 - the day that President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed. Future episodes of the show will reveal that it was actually C.G.B. Spender, better known as the mysterious Cigarette Smoking Man, who assassinated Kennedy.
