Loki Laufeyson, usually referred to simply as Loki, is a fictional supervillain and a primary antagonist featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film series. The character is based on the Marvel Comics villain Loki Laufeyson, which is turn, is based on a figure of Norse mythology whose concepts have been adapted into various forms of speculative fiction. The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Loki was played by British actor Tom Hiddleston and first appeared in the 2011 feature film Thor. Hiddleston reprised the role in 2012 for the ensemble cast blockbuster The Avengers and again in 2013 in the Thor sequel, Thor: The Dark World.
