Loki is a live-action television series burdened with glorious purpose. It is a spin-off of the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is based on characters and concepts as seen in comic book titles published by Marvel Comics. The series began airing on the Disney+ streaming service on June 9th, 2021 and is the third program in the MCU's small-screen venue following WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The series was developed for television by Michael Waldron. All six episodes from season one were directed by Kate Herron. Loki was originally packaged as a finite mini-series, but the stinger at the end of episode 1x06, established that a season two would be forthcoming.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston reprising the role of Loki Laufeyson, albeit a time variant version of the character. Also starring the show is Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Sophia Di Martino as a female variant of Loki named Sylvie, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, and Sasha Lane as Hunter C-20.
