Logan is an American feature film of the action & drama genres with elements of the superhero fantasy genre. It is based on a character featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is the tenth film in the greater X-Men film series and the third film to spotlight the character of James Howlett, also known as Logan and Wolverine. The movie was directed by James Mangold, who also directed the film's previous installment, The Wolverine. The screenplay was written by Scott Frank, James Mangold, and Michael Green. It was produced by Marvel Entertainment, the Donners' Company and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It premiered in the United States on March 3rd, 2017.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman in the eponymous role of James "Logan" Howlett, bringing to a close a seventeen-year run on the infamous movie character. It also stars Patrick Stewart reprising the role of Professor Charles Xavier, whom he played in the original film series. Logan introduces Dafne Keen as Laura - a young girl with a SERIOUS chip on her shoulder, who has an intimate connection to Logan. Hint: She has claws. You figure the rest out. Co-starring in the movie is Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice and Eriq La Salle as Will Munson.
