The Little Shop of Horrors is an American independent feature film of the comedy and horror genres. It was directed by Roger Corman with a screenplay written by Charles B. Griffith. It was produced by The Filmgroup and released through American International Pictures. It premiered in the United States on August 5th, 1960. The film stars Jonathan Haze as Seymour Krelboined - a clumsy employee of florist Gravis Mushnick (Mel Welles), who operates a small shop out of the Skid Row district of Los Angeles. Despite being perpetually on the cusp of being fired, Seymour save his job by introducing his boss to a new type of plant - one that will drum up interest in his shop. He names it Audrey after his girlfriend Audrey Fulquard, played by Jackie Joseph. What makes Seymour's plant so unique is that it is carniverous... and it talks! As the plant continues to shout "Feed me!" in Seymour's direction, the inept shop clerk must now find a way to satisfy its need... for human flesh!
