Lew Russell is a fictional business owner and a minor character featured in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. Played by actor John Baskcomb, he first appeared in "Terror of the Autons (Part 1)" in January, 1971.
Biography[]
Lew Russell was the owner of the International Circus. In this professional venue, he went by the name Luigi Rossini. In 1971, Lew Russell was shocked to find a horse trailer suddenly materialize right before his eyes. This was the guise of a time machine called a TARDIS, which had been piloted by a renegade Time Lord known as The Master.
The Master exited his TARDIS and upon encountering Lew Russell, hypnotized him, and forced him to carry out his bidding. Lew stole a Nestene energy unit, which the Master required in order to control an army of Autons. [1]
