Legends of the Superheroes is the umbrella title for two one-hour television specials that aired in January, 1979. It is part of the superhero fantasy, as well as comedy genres and is based on characters who appear in comic book titles published by DC Comics. The first one hour special, "The Challenge", aired on NBC on January 18th, 1979. The second special, "The Roast", aired on January 25th. Both parts were directed by Bill Carruthers, with Chris Darley sharing the directing duties on "The Challenge". Both specials were written by Mike Marmer and Peter Gallay with additional material written by Mort Greene and Ken Harris.
