The Lawrence Funeral Home was located in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was run by two elderly people. A young woman named Amy Brewer died of food poisoning on the eve of her wedding. After the autopsy, her body was taken to the funeral home for preparation. The owners lamented over how the county medical examiners handled the body, but assured one another that they would make her look good for the funeral.
