Laurence Fishburne is an American film and television actor born in Augusta, Georgia on July 30th, 1961. He is best known for playing the role of Morpheus, the leader of a group of freedom fighters from The Matrix film series. Though he has appeared in numerous films since first gaining attention in 1979's war epic Apocalypse Now, it wasn't until 1987 that Laurence did his first work in the sci-fi genre by playing a Glu Glu club lawyer in Steve De Jarnatt's Cherry 2000. It would be another decade until Fishburne would explore the sci-fi waters again, but in 1997 he played Lewis & Clark commander Captain Miller in Paul W.S. Anderson's futuristic horror movie Event Horizon. Beginning in 1999, Fishburne began his work on the Matrix film series, beginning with the first installment, The Matrix, followed by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both of which were released in 2003. In 2007, Fishburne provided the voice of the cosmi superhero Norrin Radd, aka, the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. In 2010, Laurence Fishburne played Noland in the Nimród Antal film Predators. In 2013, he played the role of Daily Planet newspaper editor Perry White in the superhero reboot film Man of Steel.
