Land of the Giants was an American live-action television series that aired on ABC from September of 1968 to March of 1970 , spanning two seasons and a total of fifty-one episodes. The series was created by Irwin Allen and produced by his production company Irwin Allen Productions as well as Kent Productions and Twentieth Century-Fox . The premise of the series revolved around a crew of astronauts whose sub-orbital spacecraft , the Spindrift alien planet where everything is twelve times their size. The crew of the Spindrift are forced to endure great hardship on a world populated by seventy-two foot giants.
