Kushiro is a city located in Kushiro, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is the capital city of Kushiro Subprefecture, as well as the most populous city in eastern Hokkaidō. Kushiro is the birth place of Akira Ifukube, a notable film composer best known for scoring the original 1954 sci-fi/horror film Gojira, which was edited and repackaged two years later for Western audiences under the title Godzilla, King of the Monsters.
