Kord Industries, fully known as Kord Omniversal Research and Development Industries, is a fictional business featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It relates to the character of Blue Beetle, and is most commonly seen in issues of Blue Beetle, Volume 8, which is the first title in the franchise published by DC. Kord Industries has also made appearances in episodes of Arrow as well as the spin-off series The Flash.
Kord Industries was founded by Thomas M. Kord, and the original facility was based out of Chicago, Illinois. Eventually, control of the company fell to his son, Ted Kord, but Ted had little involvement with the day-to-day operations of the business. One of the devices that came out of Kord's manufacturing plant was The Bug. The Bug was a hover-ship capable of atmospheric flight. It also had marine adaptability, enabling it to travel underwater. The Bug was 80% solar-powered and was also equipped with a mobile lab. It possessed various other tools including articulating claw arms, magnetic manipulators, defensive shielding and offensive electro-blast capabilities.
