Man-Bat is a DC Comics super-villain, whose real name is Kirk Langstrom. He is classically considered a foe of Batman, though there have been occasions where he has been an ally as well. Man-Bat has also appeared in episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. Kirk Langstrom was a scientist who sought to develop of means of improving processes for the hearing impaired by using gland extract taken from bats. Like most ambitious scientists, he decided to test the bat gland serum on himself first, which transformed him into a six-foot bat creature. As Man-Bat, Kirk Langstrom had the benefit of enhanced hearing via echolocation. He also developed wings attached to his arms and shoulders and had sharp claws on his hands and feet.
