Kingfisher is a fictional planet featured in the 2000-2005 science fiction television series Andromeda. It was first referenced in the pilot episode, "Under the Night".
Kingfisher was a world that had been invaded and taken over by a savage race known as the Magog. As per their standard practices, they ravaged the native population, killing and eating as many sentient life forms as they could find. Those that weren't killed were brutally raped; their bodies used to house an infestation of Magog eggs. One of these Magog births was a being named Rev Bem. Unlike most Magog, Rev Bem eventually rejected the practices of his people and became a pacifist who adopted the peaceful platitudes of the People of the Way.
In CY 10087, Rev Bem commented to Seamus Harper that he wanted to use the profit they earned from a salvage job to build a hospital on Kingfisher. He believed that doing so would earn him a sense of absolution for the horrors committed there. [1]
