Kingar is a fictional daikaiju or, "giant monster", of the tokusatsu style of science fiction. He was an antagonist featured in the Go! Godman television series and first appeared in "Godman vs. Kinger" in 1972. He was played by an unknown performer.
Biography[]
Kingar, or "Kinga", was a bipedal giant monster of reptilian origin who lived in the bowels of the Earth. His features were similar to that of a dinosaur with brownish gold skin, a silver-tipped beak of a nose and silver scales that ran down his spine, terminating in a dark-blue colored tail. He had two short sweeping horns atop his brow.
In 1972, a group of children were playing near what appeared to be a quarry or a slightly hilly valley when Kingar emerged from his cave. They called out for Godman, who flew down to confront the monster. Calling on his ability to enlarge himself, Godman fought with Kingar, but soon found that they were both evenly matched.
Their battle was as much a test of will as it was a test of strength as they gripped each other about the shoulders. Kingar delivered a shot to the ribs, pushing Godman back, then threw him to the ground. Godman returned with a kick to the monster's right flank, then a punch to the left side of his jaw, then a second kick. The two gripped each other again and Kingar threw Godman to the ground a second time. Godman got up and came back with a fury, delivering numerous blows to the creature's mid-section. The two then grappled each other again, rocking back and forth until Godman struck with another blow. A powerful right cross from Kingar sent Godman to the ground however.
When Godman got back up, he grabbed Kingar by the horns and pressed back so that Kingar's arms couldn't quite reach him. With the advantage of having a longer reach, Godman was then able to deliver another series of blows. The two continued to swipe at one another until Godman secured a slight elevation advantage by stepping onto a rock, and then kicked Kingar in the mid-section.
Their fight carried them very close to a population center of small houses, at which point, Godman decided to up the ante by producing a flail. He was able to keep Kingar at arm's length by continuously striking him with the flail.
Realizing he was getting nowhere using traditional combat methods, Godman then called upon his power to emit a series of sonic booms. The waves of force kept pushing Kingar backwards until the force became too much and he exploded.

Notes & Trivia[]
- The title card of the first episode identifies the creature as "Kingar", though some sources have spelled his name as "Kinga" and "Kinger".
- The suit design for Kingar was developed by Teizô Toshimitsu.
- Kingar is the first on-screen villain that Godman ever encountered.
- The costume worn by the performer was rather cheap in appearance. An obvious seam line can be seen separating the head piece from the body suit, and an obvious tear in the left armpit of the costume can be clearly seen.
- The roar that Kingar emits is the same vocalization effect used for Gezora in Space Amoeba.
