- The tagline for this film is, "The Eighth Wonder of the World".
- Production on King Kong began on September 6th, 2004. Principal filming concluded on March 22nd, 2005. Reshoots were done in August, 2005. [3]
- King Kong was released on DVD on March 28th, 2006 by Universal Pictures. The film was still being screened in select theaters even after the DVD release. It was released on Blu-ray on January 20th, 2009.
- The events from this film take place in the year 1933, the same year that the original King Kong was released.
- Andy Serkis, who was the human stand-in for Kong, also played the role of Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.
- Peter Jackson makes a cameo appearance as a gunner. Other cameos include makeup artist Rick Baker, producer/director Frank Darabont and composer Howard Shore.
- In 2005, direct-to-video production company The Asylum released King of the Lost World to capitalize on the popularity of King Kong. The film blends elements of the Kong story trope with character archetypes from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.
