  • The events from this film take place in the year 1933, the same year that the original King Kong was released.
  • Andy Serkis, who was the human stand-in for Kong, also played the role of Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.
  • In 2005, direct-to-video production company The Asylum released King of the Lost World to capitalize on the popularity of King Kong. The film blends elements of the Kong story trope with character archetypes from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.
