A King is a title representing the absolute authoritative ruler of a monarchy. It is generally regarded as a hereditary title, though it is also sometimes used as an honorific. For example, a giant gorilla known for scaling tall buildings may be identified as a king, but is not truly a king. Lions are often regarded as the King of the Jungle, but unless your name is either Simba or Mufasa, most people don't give this one much credence either.
In DC Comics titles, Aquaman is the king of the undersea continent of Atlantis.
In Marvel Comics continuity, T'Chaka was the king of the African nation of Wakanda until he was murdered by Ulysses Klaw. After which, the title was succeeded by his son, T'Challa, aka, the Black Panther. [1]
In the Star Wars original Expanded Universe, Katuunko was a Toydarian king who lived on the moon of Rugosa. He negotiated an alliance with Jedi Master Yoda during the Clone Wars. [2]
