Kevin Brooks Eastman is an American comic book writer and graphic artist. He was born in Springvale, Maine on May 30th, 1962. Along with partner Peter Laird, Eastman is known for co-creating the ever-popular multimedia franchise known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Often referred to colloquially as Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the independent comic began production in May of 1983 with their creator-owned publishing company Mirage Studios. In 1992, he purchased the Heavy Metal illustrated science fiction magazine from Tundra. Eastman eventually sold off his ownership stake in the Turtles franchise to Peter Laird and the rest of the Mirage group in June, 2000.
