Kes is a fictional character featured in the Star Trek television franchise. Played by actress Jennifer Lien, she was one of the recurring cast members on the UPN television series Star Trek: Voyager. She was introduced in the series' pilot "Caretaker" and appeared in seventy episodes of the series in total, ultimately departing the series in season four, with the episode "The Gift". Kes was one of two credited characters at the beginning of the series who was not a member of the Federation Starfleet or the Maquis; the other being her Talaxian lover, Neelix.
Overview[]
Kes was presented as female member of an extraterrestrial race known as the Ocampans. Ocampans age much more rapidly than humans and have a lifespan of only nine years. She was raised on the planet Ocampa and by the age of two had already grown to adulthood. She met the crew of the USS Voyager in 2371 and traveled with them through the Delta Quadrant for four years. Kes eventually left the crew of Voyager when she transcended into a higher life form of pure energy, but she left them a parting gift by transporting the lost ship 9,500 light years closer to home.
