Katherine "Kathy" Kane is a fictional comic book superhero featured in titles published by DC Comics. She is more popularly known by her code-name, Batwoman. Batwoman was associated with the Batman line of comic book titles and is part of DC's Pre-Crisis Silver Age era of publication continuity. She first appeared in Detective Comics #233 in July, 1956. The character has since been re-vamped for Post-Crisis continuity as Kate Kane, who was introduced in 52 Week Seven in August, 2006. The character was re-vamped a second time in 2011 for the "New 52" branded continuity, where she received her own Batwoman ongoing comic book series, which ran for forty issues.
