Kathleen Kennedy is an American film producer born in Berkeley, California on June 5th, 1953. She has had a longstanding career working in several different production positions for noted sci-fi/adventure director Steven Spielberg. She has also worked on several films for M. Night Shyamalan. Her first work with Spielberg was the 1981 adventure film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Her first work in the science fiction genre was the 1982 smash hit E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
On October 30th 2012, George Lucas announced the sale of Lucasfilm to the Walt Disney Company for 4.06 billion dollars. Kathleen Kennedy was made the president of Lucasfilm and announced the proposed continuation of the Star Wars film franchise with episodes VII-IX.
