Katherine "Kathy" Rebecca Kane is a fictional comic book super-hero and a recurring central character featured in comic books published by DC Comics. This version of the character is a re-vamping of Kathy Kane, who is a character from DC's Golden Age who first appeared in Detective Comics #233 in July 1956. The modern version of Batwoman was introduced in week seven of the weekly superhero anthology series 52 in August 2006. The character was re-vamped again for DC's "New 52" continuity beginning with her own ongoing series, Batwoman, which ran for forty issues from 2011 to 2015.
