"Resurrected Mummy Monster, Egyptus" is the thirty-sixth episode of the Kamen Rider tokusatsu super-hero/action series. It was directed by Katsuhiko Taguchi with a script written by Masayuki Shimada. It premiered on MBS TV on Saturday, December 4th, 1971.

Synopsis[]

Colonel Zol of Shocker discovers the 4,000 year old casket of the ancient Egyptian mummy, Egyptus. Shocker submits the body through five days worth of life-transference processes, ultimately resurrecting him. Zol knows that Egyptus was aware of treasure trove of gemstones valued at 1 billion yen and want to get the location from him. Though Egyptus can understand Japanese, the agents of Shocker cannot understand his Egyptian tongue, so Zol sends his agents out to abduct scientists proficient in Ancient Egyptian language.

Egyptus accompanies the Shocker henchmen and kills a scientist named Doctor Nishida. They try to abduct another scientist named Doctor Ono, but Egyptus deals him a fatal blow with his blow-torch beak. Before expiring, Doctor Ono leaves a cryptic message in marker on a telephone booth. He manages to contact Doctor Kenzo Goda and warn him of Egyptus' resurrection before dying.

Hayato Ichimonji comes upon Doctor Ono's body and contacts Kazuya Taki. He asks Taki to investigate the symbols found at this scene, as well as those found near the body of Doctor Nishida the previous evening.

Agents of Shocker then abduct Kenzo Goda's young son, Yuji. They use him as blackmail to force Doctor Goda to translate Egyptus' written tongue, so Colonel Zol can determine the location of the gemstones. Colonel Zol hacks into Doctor Goda's television set and shows him footage of his son strapped to a torture device. He has one day to decide before they execute the boy.

Hayato and Kazuya encounter Egyptus after he and Shocker agents kidnap Kenzo Goda. Hayato transforms into Kamen Rider and launches into the Shocker combatants. Though he makes short work of the henchmen, Egyptus ignites his flamethrower breath, which keeps Kamen Rider at bay. Despite this, Kamen Rider manages to rescue Doctor Goda and Egyptus and the remaining henchmen drive off in their getaway vehicle. Hayato takes Doctor Goda back to a safe house. Due to Hayata's mild burn injuries from Egyptus' flamethrower, Kazuya Taki volunteers to continue the search for Egyptus.

Taki traces Egyptus' movements, but as he approaches the Shocker outpost, he is ambushed by Shocker agents and injures his leg.

Egyptus and his goons then stage another raid on Doctor Goda's home and fight up against Hayato. During the fight, Doctor Goda surrenders to the villains. Hayato is knocked out and Egyptus takes Doctor Goda back to the Shocker outpost.

Now Hayato has to rescue Doctor God, his son, and Taki. At the outpost, Colonel Zol forces Kenzo Goda to translate Egptus' instruction on where the Egyptian gemstones had been hidden. Colonel Zol interprets that they are hidden in Hokkaido. Having obtained the information he required, Colonel Zol prepares to execute Kenzo and Yugi Goda. He then instructs Egyptus to destroy their current base and take off for Hokkaido so that he can recover the gems. He plants dynamite in the room where Kazuya Taki, Kenzo Goda and Yugi Goda are bound.

Hayato Ichimonji finally arrives at the house and transforms into Kamen Rider. He enters the house, extinguishes the dynamite and frees the captives. Taki tells him where Egyptus is headed, and he quickly pursues them on his Cyclone cycle. He intercepts their car and runs it off the road. After dispatching the Shocker combatants, he squares off against Egyptus directly. He executes a powerful Rider Kick, which forces Egyptus to explode. After Egyptus dies, Hayato exclaims, "I won. I finally beat him." He then returns to the house to make sure that Taki, Kenzo and Yuki are returned home safely.
