The Justice League satellite is a fictional location featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It is associated with the Justice League of America line of titles and first appeared in Justice League of America #78 in February, 1970. This massive satellite space station was located in fixed geosynchronous orbit, 22,300 miles above the earth. It served as the second major headquarters for the Justice League, and was put into use shortly after they abandoned their Secret Sanctuary base in Happy Harbor, Rhode Island. In the original Silver Age Earth-One continuity, many of the satellites functions were cultivated through Thanagarian technology, but after Thanagarians were retroactively removed from JLA history in the 1990s, it was established to have been built with Martian technology. The original satellite was destroyed in Justice League of America Annual #3 in November, 1985. A second satellite station, known as the Justice League Refuge was introduced in Justice League International #66 in July, 1994. This was maintained until its destruction in JLA #1. Following this, the Justice League operated out of a lunar base called The Watchtower. A third satellite was constructed years later in Justice League of America, Volume 2 #0 in September, 2006.
