- The Justice League of America was created by writer Gardner Fox, artist Mike Sekowsky, and inkers Bernard Sachs, Joe Giella, and Murphy Anderson. They first appeared in a three-issue story-arc from The Brave and the Bold beginning with "Starro the Conqueror!" in The Brave and the Bold #28 in February-March 1960, before launching off into their own Justice League of America ongoing comic book series in October-November 1960.
- Superman was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. He first appeared in Action Comics #1 in June, 1938 in a story called "Superman, Champion of the Opressed".
- Batman was created by comic book writer Bill Finger and graphic artist Bob Kane. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May, 1939. He received his first ongoing series, Batman, in the Spring, 1940 beginning with Batman #1.
- The character of Wonder Woman was created by writer William Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Peter. She first appeared in a back-up feature in All-Star Comics #8 in January 1942 titled "Introducing Wonder Woman". The character then went on to headline two ongoing titles, Wonder Woman and Sensation Comics and has appeared consistently ever since.
- This issue is reprinted in the Justice League of America: The Lightning Saga trade paperback collection, released in February, 2008.
- This issue was re-released as a Free Comic Book Day give-away in May, 2007.
- The regular cover was illustrated by Michael Turner with Peter Steigerwald on colors. This issue shipped with a variant cover drawn by J. Scott Campbell, inked by Sandra Hope, and colored by Edgar Delgado.
