- "Batman -- we've worked together for many years! We respect each other... we're friends. But I tell you... and I'm serious this time -- if you don't cease this arrogant, juvenile behavior, I'll see to it that you're booted out of Russia -- and out of the Justice League!"
- ―Martian Manhunter

They first appeared in a three-issue story-arc from The Brave and the Bold beginning with "Starro the Conqueror!" in The Brave and the Bold #28 in February-March 1960, before launching off into their own Justice League of America ongoing comic book series in October-November 1960.
- According to DC Releases #48, this issue shipped to retailers on January 12th, 1988.
- This is the seventh issue of the series under its current title.
- The Suicide Squad was first conceived by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Ross Andru and first appeared as the cover feature to The Brave and the Bold, Volume #25 (September, 1959). The modern iteration of the team was created by writer John Ostrander and debuted in issue #2 of the Legends mini-series.
- The next-issue blurb erroneously states that this storyline continues in Suicide Squad #10. It actually continues in Suicide Squad #13.
