Jurassic Park is the name of both a fictional setting as well as a multimedia franchise comprising of a series of novels written by Michael Crichton as well as a multi-million dollar grossing film series helmed by director/producer Steven Spielberg. The first film, Jurassic Park was released in 1993 and was followed by two sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997, also directed by Spielberg, and Jurassic Park III in 2001, directed by Joe Johnston. A fourth feature film went into development in 2012. There have also been several video games produced relating to the franchise, which were developed by companies such as Ocean Software, BlueSky Software, Sega and Telltale Games, as well as several comic book projects published by Topps Comics, and later by IDW Publishing.
