A junkboss is a fictional occupation featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. The term was first used in the 2015 feature film Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. A junkboss, or junk boss, is another term for a junk dealer, or one who works and/or operates at a junkyard, waste disposal facility or salvage yard.
In The Force Awakens the portly Crolute alien known as Unkar Plutt worked as a junkboss at Niima Outpost on the planet Jakku. He negotiated with local scavengers, offering them percentages of survivor rations in exchange for valuable items, many of which were taken from the wreckage of various spacecraft that crashed on the planet at the Battle of Jakku during the Galactic Civil War. Unkar employed several masked thugs to accost any who were conducting unauthorized bartering in the area.
