Joseph Pevney is a film and television director. He was born in New York City, New York on September 15th, 1911. His first work in the science fiction genre was the 1959 television movie Destination Space. Pevney is also known for directing fourteen episodes of the 1960s TV series Star Trek beginning with the season one episode, "Arena", notable for it's introduction of the reptilian Gorn species.
In the 1970s, Joseph Pevney directed two episodes of the CBS television series The Incredible Hulk. He directed "Another Path" from season two in 1978 and "Kindred Spirits", also from season two, in 1979.
Joseph Pevney passed away in Palm Desert, California on May 18th, 2008 at the age of 96.

- Pevney's scenes of Captain Kirk fighting the Gorn form "Arena" was lampooned Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the 2011 comedy Paul.
- Pevney's "The Trouble With Tribbles" is considered a favorite among Star Trek fans and even spawned a sequel episode called "More Troubles, More Tribbles" on Star Trek: The Animated Series as well as a quasi-remake called "Trials and Tribbilations" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
- Joseph Pevney directed the 1951 horror movie The Strange Debut which introduced actress Allison Hayes who went on to become a well-known face in classic sci-fi fare for her portrayal of tormented Nancy Archer in Nathan Juran's 1958 film Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.
