Joely Richardson is a British actress who made her first appearance in a science-fiction film in the 1997 horror movie Event Horizon. She also played the role of Josella Playton in the 2009 adaptation of John Wyndham's The Day of the Triffids. Outside the sci-fi genre, Richardson is best known for playing the role of Julia McNamara on the popular television series Nip/Tuck.
