Jerome "Jerry" Siegel was an American science fiction/fantasy writer whose work has been published in magazine and comic book formats. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 17th, 1914. Along with artist Joe Shuster, Jerry Siegel is best known for creating the costumed superhero known as Superman, who debuted in the pages of Action Comics #1 in 1938. Siegel and Shuster's creation has become one of the most well-known and iconic pop culture creations of all time and has been adapted into nearly every form of alternative media including radio, film, television, novels, video games and more.
