Biography[]

Jefferson Barton was an astronaut assigned to a special exploratory mission known as Project Vulcan. He conducted Earth's first manned space mission to the planet Venus. After completing the mission, Barton returned home, but found that his experience had adverse side effects. In addition to an increasing inability to stay warm, Barton also suffered from intense nightmares. His dreams reveal a suppressed memory in which Barton encountered a wraith-like alien creature in Venus' atmosphere. As time passed, Barton's voyage yielded another unexpected side-effect when he awakened to discover that he now had webbed fingers. Barton's doctors began to suspect that the astronaut had been genetically affected by his mission, and labored to find a cure for his condition in the hopes of halting any further mutation.
