Description[]
The Jedha system is located in the Freestanding Subsectors of the Mid Rim Territories. Its most dominant location is the moon of Jedha, which housed an ancient holy site at Jedha City, which had since become a veritable Mecca for the Guardians of the Whills.
In the years leading up the Galactic Civil War, the Jedha System became a highly trafficked route for the First Galactic Empire, who exploited it for its supply of Kyber crystals. Sometime shortly prior to the Battle of Yavin, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin decided to test out his newest toy - the Death Star by targeting Jedha City. The space station's super-laser fired at the moon's surface, eradicating the city. The detonation was so powerful that its effects could be seen from space. [1]
Points of Interest[]
- Jedha
- Jedha was the central moon of the Jedha star system and was once a holy site for the ancient Order of the Jedi. Following the years of the Purge in the aftermath of the Clone Wars, its reverence was isolated to that of the Guardians of the Whills. The former Rebel Alliance soldier, Saw Gerrera, and his Partisans, headquartered themselves on Jedha. In 0 BBY, both the Partisans and the Guardians encountered agents of the Rebel Alliance, Captain Cassian Andor and Sergeant Jyn Erso. These factions engaged in a battle with Imperial forces, which ended when the Empire decided to test out the Death Star's super-laser and targeted Jedha City. The city was destroyed, but many people were able to evacuate in time. Saw Gerrera and his Partisans all perished.
