- The character of Jed Garrity was created by director Leslie Libman and writers Ira Steven Behr and Craig Sweeny based upon concepts developed by Scott Peters and René Echevarria.
- Jed's power as revealed in the series finale, "The Great Leap Forward", is the ability to generate an exact clone duplicate of himself. This ability is similar to that of Jamie Madrox, a mutant character featured in the X-Men family of comic book titles published by Marvel Comics.
