Jay Laga'aia is a film actor and musician of Samoan descent. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand on September 10th, 1963. He got his acting start playing a character named Ron in the 1984-1986 rock 'n roll drama series Heroes. During the 1990s, Laga'aia turned his talents from Australian television to Canadian TV where he appeared in two episodes of the serialized adaptation of Jules Verne's Mysterious Island playing a character named Tenape. Jay was credited on three episodes of the series, but only appeared in two. He then went on to play an antagonist named Draco in the Sam Raimi fantasy series Xena: Warrior Princess. Jay is probably best known to sci-fi fans however for playing the role of Captain Gregar Typho in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He was introduced in the beginning of 2002's Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and also made a brief appearance in the 2005 sequel Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

- Is close friends with fellow New Zealander Temuera Morrison who played Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones. Morrison served as Best Man at Jay's wedding to Sandra Jane Laga'aia. [1]
- Because his character Gregar Typho in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones wore an eye patch, Jay often had difficulty hitting his marks due to poor depth perception. [2]
- Jay bears a strong resemblance to Bodie Taylor who played the younger, adult clones of Jango Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Both actors are from New Zealand.
- Jay Laga'aia was a media guest at the Celebration III Star Wars convention and was the Master of Ceremonies at Celebration IV in Los Angeles, California. In 2010, he was the Celebrity MC at Celebration V held in Orlando, Florida. [3]
