Janessa is a fictional student & murder victim and a supporting character featured in the Friday the 13th film series. Played by actress Melyssa Ade, she appeared in 2001 film Jason X.

Biography[]

Janessa was a student of science in the mid 25th century. She was part of a space-faring field trip and was stationed aboard The Grendel. She was known for wearing revealing clothing and making wise-cracks at her fellow science students, in particular Tsunaron, who had created a "Love-Bot" named Kay-Em 14. Janessa was also carrying on an affair with her instructor, Professor Lowe, who was something of a fetishist.

In the year 2455, The Grendel discovered two cryogenically frozen bodies on Earth and brought them aboard the ship. The bodies were that of a Crystal Lake Research Facility program leader from the 20th century named Rowan and the undead mass murderer Jason Voorhees. Janessa scanned their bodies when they were brought on board and observed as the ship's crew used nanotechnology to heal Rowan's injuries and revive her.

Jason Voorhees was also unexpectedly revived and began killing everybody on The Grendel, which included not only Lowe's class, but a squadron of military grunts. While fighting Kay-Em, Jason was pushed into a nanotech compression device, which converted him into a cyborg, making him even more dangerous than before.

Despite all efforts to abandon ship, Janessa and the others found themselves able to do little except to flee for their lives. While waiting for a shuttlecraft rescue ship called The Tiamat to arrive, Jason punched a hole in the hull of the ship. The others managed to pull their way to the access hatch, and though Janessa attempted to hold on, she could not resist the pull of the vacuum of space. Her body was sucked out through a grated lattice in the hull and was diced into pieces. [1]
